How I went all these years without noticing that a whisk looks a heck of a lot like a squid, I don’t know. But someone else did, and made a funky squid whisk to dramatize the effect.

I have tried, and liked, the silicone garlic peeler approach. It keeps your hands from getting all garlicy smelling, yet retains the natural approach to removing garlic skins by rolling them.
My garlic peeler was this type (not recommended):
