Cheese Board & Knife Set

by Arieanna on November 30th, 2005

Are you entertaining this season, or do you have a friend who lives for dinner parties? If so, this set is for you.

This 6 piece Cheese Board and Knife Set features a natural hardwood board, 12 inches in diameter, and 6 assorted stainless steel knives.

The board is one of those things you don’t know you need until you have it. It features a groove all around the outside. What for? For catching crumbs, of course.

Last year I got a great cheese set for a Christmas gift, much like this one. It also had four slate markers, with felted backs, and a piece of chalk. Your write the name of the cheese on the slate and use it in your cheese slate display. Since I love putting together interesting cheese pairings, it kept me from having to always answer the question: “What kind of cheese is this?”

I think the set came from Crate & Barrel, but I didn’t see it on their website. I’m sure many gourmet shops will carry something similar.

Totally. I think this is a great base set for most people, but there are way more stylish ones. I am going to find a super fancy one (I fell in love with one at Pottery Barn) and also the little cheese names, which you can buy separately.

A 12″ diameter cheese board is pretty darned big. Where do you store the darned thing? Give me a marble base with a handle and wire and I’m set to cut the cheese.

I did not just say that.
