Eco-Cook

by Arieanna on January 26th, 2008

The eco-cook is a design concept by Kechenyi Camille from France, and should definitely be considered by some company for full production. By cooking more than one food at the same time, you can concerve energy and time. And cleaning.

This is very similar to commercial kitcken pasta pots. Since it’s horribly impractical to boil a large pot of pasta for every order (and poor practice to precook pasta!), large pots will have four quarter-circle insert strainers allowing for four portions of pasta to be timed independently and drained in situ.

Unforunately, every one I’ve seen of these is much too large for average home use. It wouldn’t be too outrageous to purchase one of the quarter-strainers and use it in a standard pot - the pots might not fit as elegantly, but it would probably do better than the little plastic dohikkey in the picture!

What a fabulous idea! I hate when I have multiple pots on the stove - it seems like such a waste. I hope someone picks this idea up!

What a great idea! It would not only save energy but also would save room in the cupboard.

Especially for us New Yorkers who are challenged for space in our apartments and have to use our ovens for storage!
