Garlic Twist
Thanks to everyone who contributed feedback to the Garlic Press Wars poll. The results on which style of press you like most are as follows:
- Standard Garlic Press 32 - 65% of all votes
- Twist Model 5 - 10% of all votes
- Rotary Model 1 - 2% of all votes
- Slicer / Grater 4 - 8% of all votes
- Dicer 7 - 14% of all votes
There were also many comments left by those of you who dice your own garlic. I spent several weeks looking at various garlic presses. Although the standard did win out in the poll, none of the standard model garlic presses seemed to overcome the issue with crushing all of the garlic. I have always had issues squeezing hard enough to get it all out.
After visiting all my favorite kitchen stores I ended up with the Garlic Twist, which would most aptly fall under the ‘dicer’ category.

Why I like the garlic twist:
- does not have blades, so cannot become dull or rust
- uses all of the garlic
- garlic is diced with simple twisting motion
- clean by rinsing
- can also mince shallots or small peppers
