Hands free trash can by Simplehuman

by Arieanna on February 26th, 2007

Simplehuman’s Rectangular Sensor Can ($200) eliminates the need to lift the lid of the garbage can, potentially contaminating it with all sorts of lovely germs and whatnot.

The Sensor Can has a recessed sensor zone for hands-free opening and closing simply by putting your foot near the can bottom. A hold button can keep it open longer. Operates on six D batteries or via power adapter (purchased separately).

I recently went looking for a new stainless kitchen trash can and discovered that of the 8-10 I looked at, most that open using a foot pedal are cheaply made, work poorly and were expensive to boot. Thanks for writing about this one - it may turn into my new trash can.

If you do get it, I’d love to know what you think of it :)
