Learning the Mandoline
Think I’m referring to music? You’d be wrong. It’s a cooking gadget. It slices up veggies into even strips, but can really irk you if you don’t do it right.
So, OXO has stepped up after one confused customer blogged her frustrations. They are going to hold a support group! If you are in the NY area, mid-March, here is the info you need to know, along with the great OXO response to the post:
OK Everyone,
This is OXO. Yes, really…OXO. It pains us to read that some of you are finding using a mandoline frustrating. I promise, we really tried very hard to design a safe, easy-to-use, and affordable mandoline. What can we do to help? If anyone is in the NYC area and wants to come to OXO (we’re located in the Chelsea Market) for a lesson, we would be happy to give one. If anyone is in the Chicago area and would like to visit us at the upcoming Housewares Show (3/10 - 12) for a mandoline lesson, let us know and we can make the arrangements. We’re serious. We want to end your frustration. You can contact me at suggestionbox@oxo.com.
The feedback presented has inspired OXO to put up a video tutorial as well, which is great proactive work on their part. This is the mandoline in question: OXO Good Grips 1054752 Mandoline Slicer

I’ve only ever tried a really crappy flimsy mandoline. I’d love to have a good professional grade one for quick chopping jobs. I am perhaps a little wary now about whether or not I could do it!
