Onion Chopper Set

January 27, 2008 by Arieanna

I don’t know of anybody who likes to chop onions. I have a hand chopper and pretty much only use it for onions. But I think this onion chopper from Progressive might have been a heck of lot faster. I recently spotted it at one of my favorite kitche stores and thought it was a very smart idea.

Place half an onion on the dicer, push down the lid, and that’s it! You can store chopped onion in the bottom container (which is a 2-cup measure), and a half onion in the storage container.

The problem is, the mechanical advantage on these things is near zilch. The old TV commercial actually jumped frames from the beautiful assistant loading the onion, to it being chopped instantaneously – no laborious leaning and jumping up and down on the lever!

I, for one, enjoy chopping onions and shallots. But, I’m weird.

I bought this from Walmart ($15). It works fine, but since the unit is made from plastic material, it craked and broke apart after using few times.
