Ok, so if you do use a sponge for your cleaning, you absolutely must have one of these.

It’s a place to drip dry your sponges - instead of leaving them on the ledge. Good little place to also store scouring pads or scrapers.

The one shown is from Rubbermaid, but they are very easy to find.
